High Performance Solar Panels - do it right, do it once

The available roof space for solar panels on most houses is limited. Yet as households replace their gas and petrol use over the 2020s, the need for solar output will only increase. So when investing in solar there needs to be a focus on maximum output per sqm and minimum degradation.

+7.5% more solar produced per day

REC Alpha Pure panels use more expensive but higher performing N-type cells manufactured by REC in its Singapore factory. These N-type cells (vs standard P-type cells) perform better in low light conditions.

Also REC's panel glass uses a higher performance HTAR (Highly Transmitted Anti Reflection) coating that enables greater power generation.

So REC panels will start producing solar power earlier in the morning and will continue solar production later into the afternoon, generating +7.5% more solar power per day.

Most robust performance testing
Most comprehensive warranty

REC is the only manufacturer to offer a 25 year free panel replacement warrantytransferable upon sale.

Spare Alpha Pure panels are archived in REC's Singapore factory warehouse. So a panel fault failure in year 24 will be replaced for free (panel+labour+shipment) with the exact same panel fitting exactly into the existing roof array.

Beware the small print. Most panel warranties allow for pro rata financial compensation. So with a panel failure in year 10 of a 25 year warranty, you would be covered for just 50% of the purchase cost of a new panel!

Improved high temperature performance

Solar panels don’t like heat. All panels lose a measure of performance every +1°C above 25°C.

The REC Alpha Pure panel performs the best in hotter weather (temperature co-efficient rating)  – a critical measure considering Australia’s harsh climate and more extreme weather expected due to global warming.

Longer lasting performance

Guaranteed 92% performance after 25 years

The REC Alpha Pure high performance N-type cells will lose about half the output of standard P-type solar cells (just -8% loss vs standard 15-20% loss over 25 years).

Solaredge Energy Hub - Home is where the smart is

Future proofed hybrid inverter + smart energy manager

Solaredge is the no.1 solar inverter worldwide. It's also the most inventive, successfully re-imagining the role of the inverter in a smart, all electric home.

Its NASDAQ share price has jumped from $13 five years ago up to $250 in 2022!

1. Solaredge Hybrid Inverter and Smart Energy Manager

Standard inverters convert raw solar DC power from panels into AC power that can be used in homes.

But batteries store power in DC. So to be battery compatible you need another inverter to convert AC back to DC.

This adds to system cost and power loss in extra round trip power transfer.

A better way is to make the inverter manage AC+DC. Such a hybrid inverter can either convert DC to AC for direct use, or transfer it unchanged as DC straight into the battery.

Some battery makers have begun integrating hybrid inverters into batteries. But this limits the inverter to just AC/DC conversion, preventing the inverter from functioning as a smart home energy manager.

The Solaredge Energy Hub is designed to add on extra functionality. It can integrate with future EV charging and also with individual home electric devices and smart device management software.

Solaredge inverters are comprehensively warrantied for up to 25 years. So it makes sense to future proof the innovation in line with the direction of home energy market trends, so you only need to invest once.

2. Power Optimisers maximise solar output per panel

Every solar rooftop panel is connected to its own Power Optimiser.

Ordinarily in solar systems, panels are joined in tandem strings where panel output drops to match the poorest performing panel.  Optimisers enable each panel to operate independently and so capture individual panel output variances. What optimisers in effect do for you is increase the total solar output per sqm of your roof space.

Remember, you need to leave some spare roof spare for future system expansion. Otherwise you face the prospect of needing to replace your otherwise perfectly working panels for higher output ones as your power needs increase.

For roofs with seasonal partial shading, Solaredge optimisers can add up to +25% more solar output.

Even without structural shading issues, individually optimised panels can extract up to +7% more power - from natural variations in panel performance, from uneven hot weather impact and from spot soiling.

Individual panel performance monitoring

Optimisers also enable performance monitoring per panel. So should there be a panel failure or under performance, auto fault reporting ensures the problem quickly fixed under warranty. In the meantime the problem is isolated to just the panel affected.

Safe solar system shutdown

Optimisers also enable safe shutdown of the solar panels for maintenance. When the power optimisers are not connected to an operating inverter, they each limit their output to a safe voltage of 1V per panel.

High Performance Battery  Storage

Solaredge Energy Bank 10kW battery + LG Prime 16kW battery

The new SolarEdge Energy Bank is a 10 kWh battery (nett 9.7 kWh of storage) with a 100% depth of discharge.

Round trip efficiency of 94.5% is one of the highest in the market. And it can charge/discharge at a rate of 5 kWh.

Up to 3x Energy Bank batteries (29.1 kWh total storage) can be installed outdoors / indoors, wall / floor mounted.

In a world first, the Energy Bank includes an embedded fire safety cassette to discharge foam retardant if needed.

The new Sungrow battery is modular consisting of 3.2kW units. compatible with Solaredge’s Energy Hub. It’s a 16 kWh battery (100% depth of discharge),

which makes it the largest domestic solar battery available. It can also charge/ discharge at the highest rate of 7 kWh.

A second battery can be integrated into the same battery unit at a later date to create 31.2 kWh of effective storage.
